Halloween and the Zoo

Apparently Halloween is the best day to go to the zoo if you don't want to fight the crowds. We went to the Zoo yesterday and we practically had the zoo all to ourselves too. The weather was also perfect. It was warm enough that we didn't need jackets but it was also a bit cloudy so it wasn't too hot or too sunny. Simeon had fun even though we went later in the day that I would have liked. He was a bit tired but it sure didn't stop him from seeing lots of neat animals.


















He thought that the seals were really neat when they would swim close. We happened to be there right at feeding time so that was also neat.

Since we were there right at closing time some of the animals were sleeping but a lot of the animals were surprisingly active. I think they must feed them right when the zoo closes because a lot of the animals were acting impatient for something. The rhino and the lions were especially active. The rhino was stamping around his pen and it was pretty awesome. Usually they just stand around looking really bored. The lions were also walking around their pen and the male was roaring a lot. Simeon thought that was both neat and a little scary. It was scary when we were close to them but when we were leaving the zoo he heard them roar really loud and Simeon turned around and started running back toward the lion pen. It was very funny.

So there was a little bit of a down side to going to the zoo on Halloween. We usually start getting Simeon ready for bed at 6:30 and he is always asleep by 7:00. Well the ward trunk or treat didn't start until 6:30 and after a day at the zoo Simeon was already pretty tired. He was pretty out of it at the trunk or treat and we had to carry him around to all the cars. But he wasn't fussy so that was good. He fell asleep on the way home from the church ( about a 6 or 7 minute drive) and we decided just to put him to bed and not wake him up. Well he usually has a drink of milk right before bed so that his tummy is full. And I couldn't get him to eat or drink anything right before the trunk or treat. Even with that he slept until around 12:30. Seth was still up then (bad Seth) so he gave him some milk and then Simeon went back to sleep until almost 7:00 this morning. He was one tired little boy.

He sure did look cute in his Halloween costume though. He was a CDOT worker like his Papa. I was an Air Force Officer and Seth was a Ninja.
